I have tried the fix with no results. I found I had to "Lower the Input DC Voltage from 13.8 Volts to 12.8 Volts. " There is a problem with the over-voltage protection circuit.
The radio display would flash on and off, sometimes it would continue to receive but every thing else would not function.

I would like to ask you if you have some problems, so similars to static noise, with your TS-2000, even when you have no antenna conected in it., only in the main VFO, all bands?
I have this problem with mine, and other 3 friends that uses the same model, hear the same sound.

Lastly I do recommend trying to get the awl or other similar object along the entire length of the split female connector so as to compress the entire 'tube' instead of just the front part.
I need to just replace the entire connector set with something much better.

I do agree that the file is not a great idea. It does have the ability to remove too much metal and all of the ones I have found are tapered and don't' work properly. I do use a small piece of steel wool inside the female connector and push it back and forth inside. However, I did not know that the contacts wee plated? I just thought they were aluminum; at mine seam to be.
