  • us asperger people are thought to be really clever? is this true? so this means im clever because i cant comunicate with people well?

  • I feel like this sometimes at stores...sometimes I try to find the most efficient way to shop but I can never get it right. I end up pacing back and forth across the store. I become too excited about all the stuff that is in there, and then I wonder whether I can find it somewhere else cheaper. I buy and return stuff a lot. I have a similar problem with cleaning up...it doesn't make sense so I don't do it.

  • I live asperger's and this explain it all perfectly

  • @TotallyGeekage That's true I suppose. And showing more than one (including males, females, adult dx, child dx, seeking dx, prefer not to be dx, newly dx and living with a dx for years) would provide a really fascinating insight!

  • @catherinespark

Yes, but if you only showed the worst examples, then everyone else gets stereotyped. The only way to get the best of both worlds is to show more than one example :)

  • I have Azperger as well, and I have a question; WHY THE FUCK IS HE DRAWING PLANETTARY SYSTESMS ON THE SIDEWALK?!!

  • @Jimmyretired Well not always. Depends which came first, the unemployment or the stopping trying...maybe they tried and tried to get a job, kept getting rejected, slipped into depression and then went to the doctors and were diagnosed. That's not an uncommon way for an adult to get diagnosed.

  • @Jagwa3 Depends how old you are really. I mean if a five year old explained all that they probably WOULD be eligable for mensa!

  • @deanmullen10 Well probably more of them have things like that than they'd care to bring up in a casual conversation...

  • @Raywilliamjonhsson Hmmm...interesting comment. I'd prefer the term 'mind-blind', but there are always ways to catch up and compromise...
