For the nit-pickers, i know "protect and serve" isn't the motto for our police forces, but it IS what they should be doing!

Why is a woman being hit differant to a man being hit? Is the nation sexist?

The interview that I saw on the BBC website shows her in avery poor light. Especialy as she contradicts herself constantly.

I don't think the nation is sexist, well maybe it is, but it is generally unexeptable to hit a woman. I don't think that a backhand across the face is standard police procedure.

It's a good thing when the country is in a national uproar about a single policeman hitting a single woman. How much of this happened and is happening in Eastern Europe and South America where there are no cameras?

It's very easy to critisize unconstructively.

The point is that police, not all police, but some police DO abuse their powers. You know this, and i know this. You have seen this, i have seen this, you have been a victim of this, i have been a victim of this.

I don't see the connection between police brutality and wanting NO police. The FIRST step is awareness to reduce apathy. Light on bad actors is constructive. The crap that happens when no one is looking is far worse. When the cat is a away, the mice will play. The vid is a bit of a distortion but at the same time so is every advertisement for anything. So motivating people to hold cops accountable is a worth while effort.

Exactley, the point is to get footage like this out there for people to see. I didn't say we ARE a police state, but our forces are far from as perfect as people like to make out.

@TVismyopiate People in the know, knows politicians are only the puppets and the puppeteers are behind the scenes. However it doesnt connect to the public, all they see is the government messing up.So thats what you should point out and maybe it will lead to other conversations. Another thing experience has taught me is, if some thing doesnt affect someone directly, it doesnt exist to them. Humans by nature are reactive rather than preemptive.

@TVismyopiate and again, yes the equality thing is a bit iffy, ( except that women deserve better wages ) BUT MEN NEED BETTER WAGES TOO> humanity needs a better quality of life over all, or we need to change what a better quality of life is in our own personal way. My happiness is seeing my wife and daugther. But due to immigration straints, I dont have that luxury everyday, but I will eventually once its all gone through. But we all know what KIND of women take advantage,the manipulating ones.

@TheDeviousSniper if women want equality, this hitting them like a man must be a part of it otherwise it's not true equality. Not my opinion that ANYONE should be hit, get it? But how many women have you ever seen taking advantage of the man-won't-hit-a-woman rule and acting completely provocatively? They are the really enemy - those who abuse POWER of ANY kind. Women are perceived as physically-weaker than men (true mostly) but the psychological damage from them can be worse.

Let's have the police hiding around the back in vans, checking on the protest with aerial surveillance (NOT cataloguing protestors in order to build a database of real political activists for once), and ONLY step-in IF things turn violent enough to justify it, and this does not include distressing those who caused people enoguh distress to protest against them, aka the target of the protest, ministers, big business, etc. Let them deal with it like 'big men'.

@1Dambell ( read this part as well before you respond ) You're supposed to refrain and restrain a woman UNLESS she has a knife or a gun, THEN it's all out then you can hit her to get rid of the knife/gun..Not trying to start an argument, but just state a fact that you should never hit a woman in any circumstances unless she can KILL you, that's my point. If awoman assaults an officer then she'll get arrested just like anyone else..
