I saw that Hank's gorgeous cover hadn't been uploaded yet, so I did.

The original was written by Liane Graham, and this cover is available on Hank Green's CD So Jokes (which is AWESOME)

LYRICS AND CHORDS:
The chords are as follows:
VERSES: Fm D A E (4x)
CHORUS: Bm Fm A E Bm Fm A E F G F G A
INSTRUMENTAL BRIDGE: D E A Fm (4x)

Capo on the 2nd fret.

Note: wherever it says Fm, it's actually F Sharp Minor, but for some reason this text editor won't let me put a sharp sign where it needs to go. Huzzah.

I hope you're somewhere warm and white, like the flowers in your car
That you've escaped the labyrinth of suffering wherever you are
I have a piece of you tucked away deep inside my mind
Memories of your poetry and drinking your cheap wine

Thomas Edison's last words were it's very beautiful over there
I don't know where there is, but I believe it's somewhere
And I hope it's beautiful, like you
You're beautiful, I never really knew you at all

Your green eyes still shine with life in my memory
Your smell of grass and vanilla and smoke are still alive in me
I found my great perhaps in Blue Citrus and the smoking hole
Your end was my beginning with the kiss that I stole

Thomas Edison's last words were it's very beautiful over there
I don't know where there is, but I believe it's somewhere
And I hope it's beautiful, like you
You're beautiful, I never really knew you at all

(Instrumental Bridge)

Thomas Edison's last words were it's very beautiful over there
I don't know where there is, but I believe it's somewhere
And I hope it's beautiful, like you
You're beautiful, did anyone ever really know you at all?

You were the storm that came and went like lightning
You struck me by surprise with the life I thought you might bring
Someday I'll forget your boozey breath that I can taste still
We'll always have Crest and pranks and Strawberry Hill

Thomas Edison's last words were it's very beautiful over there
I don't know where there is, but I believe it's somewhere
And I hope it's beautiful, like you
You're beautiful, and I'm still looking for you
Alaska

  • God. Tears everywhere.

  • Strawberry hill :(

  • This was such an amazing book, and so is the song. It left me speechless and with tears in my eyes. It's hard for me to explain how I feel about it.. it was so.. pure. Enlightening. I feel different.

  • God, I don't know why this story makes me so fucking emotional, but it does. I read this book twice and cried each time. And now this song.

    Gotta love John and Hank.

  • I cried at the book and this just made me cry even more. Beautiful.

  • @HariSlate Thanks :D It's good to know my words do some good, especially since I want to be a writer :)
