1 southbound BNSF manifest train meets 2 UP re-route train at Lockit OR siding on the BNSF Oregon Trunk Sub. This was taken from a 1300' peak overlooking the Deschutes River. I may post brief video of the other UP train.

  • @Mdpaulk The US&S signals are being replaced by newer tri-lights and code line

  • I love the Oregon Trunk line! It reminds me of an old spur-like line but with class one trains....I often visit the far southern area when on road trips up and down Hwys 58 and 97. Being able to walk the first several thousand feet of the line in Chemult and looking at the old us&s signal gives me a feeling as if I am back in the 1960's! Love that line!!!

  • @funnelfan Ted, we hiked up from the trail side, (Old UP railroad) to the top overlooking the river as we biked in earlier.

  • That's a cool spot, but I was a little more to the west looking straight south when I caught a couple trains meeting there. I assume you hiked down from the road on the edge of the rim?

  • seemed like it from up there, saw some real ones down below later on.

  • whoa, its a snake!
