  • It sounds rediculous that there are copyright claims on this here. It was definitely written by Franz Gruber and Joseph Mohr to praise God and to please the members of the parish in Oberndorf (Austria) and us all. Something is terribly wrong in this world if the most favourite Christmas carol ever is not public domain totally..

  • @uwemommens I know, I was going to dispute it.

  • Great lady. Magnificent voice. You may not believe it, and I was very young (yes, I was once!!!) but I remember this exceptional singer. Thank you for my second Christmas song of the season. Give us many, many more. . . .

  • @olderngod Do you know Kris Kringle? I will be your music Christmas Santa and more great Christmas songs to come.

  • Ah !! This is just beautiful. I cannot recall ever having listened to a sweeter rendition of this lovely, soulful classic.

Thank you for sharing this gem, which I have added to my "Favourites", and which I shall be listening to over the festive season.

I appreciate your efforts so much.

  • @Corrie121 So glad that you liked this seasonal favorite. Have you been sampling my other posts?

  • @meltzerboy Thank you Nate for your comments. Can you believe I got a note from YT on this saying it has a copyright claim on it. A music publishing company is claiming this. However, I am still able to keep it posted. I could argue with them that the published song has long been in the public domain. This was first published in 1833. It also shows up on a site that lists music in the public domain. The sound recording is not being contested, only the music.

  • I second tukilala. Simply sublime.

  • Bellissima Voz !!!! Bravo !!!!!

  • In addition to a beautiful voice and excellent technique, Schumann-Heink has soul. That component of her singing cannot easily be taught. Thanks for sharing this with us!
