Police clashed with violent demonstrators in Greece's second-largest city of Thessaloniki as more than 25,000 people ranging from taxi-drivers to sports fans joined a wave of anti-austerity protests, while Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou delivered his annual, keynote speech on the economy. Two people were arrested and nearly 100 people detained, police said, while at least two demonstrators were injured during the clashes. Fire bombs were seen being thrown at riot police opposite the university as they stood on the grounds of the Thessaloniki International Trade Fair where Prime Minister George Papandreou delivered his address.

  • Driven out to the streets to eat Atzmho government resources of the country, I'm the commander of Arab Revolution

  • Greece should leave EU and become part of Greece. It was way better under Ottoman Empire than under EU dictatorship. Greece is a franco-german protectorate obeying to IFM.

  • @TheSwissRepublic The bankers are the ones that are about to lose all their money. I can see why they are upset. Why are the people so upset? They get all these government benefits and don't have to pay for any of them.

  • @TheSwissRepublic More socialism im coming for your savings!!!

  • Perhaps I was wrong, sorry but only the taxi drivers were about 10,000. ( at least that's what I was told) I have never seen so many demonstrators at this event.

No, I was in Thessaloniki last Saturday, I drove from Serres , I have never been to the Athens demos. As usual the reason there were problems was because of the over reaction of police at every stage. They were really heavy at all stages of the demo. Good video .

  • @fanzig0

I assume that you have typed wrong or have mixed this video with Athens at June 28-29

At 10 September at Thessaloniki during the presentation of the goverment for the plan of the year the demonstrators were not more than 25.000 thousand people

The max of Riot block that Thessaloniki has reached is about 70,000 protestors at 2001

  • What are they fucking talking about...25'000 people. I was there and it was 200,000 at least...The media always play these things down ....Bastards!

  • I wish I am there to throw "poofs" to those dogs with helmet..

  • looks like fun
