So sorry that you felt I was trying to sell you something (re:the comment you left on our channel) - I do apologize I was actually trying to start a dialogue here. I agree with you that 30 seconds isn't time to network but surely it is just an introduction to get people to find out whether a follow up is something they want to do so you can get into networking? That's all I meant!

I love that you are bringing this up but....couldn't disagree more. Just because people do it badly doesn't mean it should be banned - anyone who gives a bad 30 second intro will be worse in 60 seconds. You can't form a relationship in a minute any better than you can in 30 seconds.
This misunderstands what an intro is for i.e. to grab attention. That leads to dialogue, networking, relationship

Great job Laurie!!! I so agree! I think it's one of the worst things ever invented. I am thinking of starting a networking group here as I haven't found one that I feel good about but I shall not be including this in the group.

Love the new Friday series launch Laurie. I think we can all relate to the dreaded 30 second speech. What I never understood until doing Ann Evanston's Social Networking Coaching Club, was that the 30 second speech is really just a pull statement - a way of attracting others to you in a short amount of time/space. When I started to think about it this way, it helped me get over my fear and actually started being more effective.
Well, Keya - I am kind of eating my words now. This video was done a year ago. I have since learned to really reduce my messaging and it works so far!
