World In Action - Jam For World In Action-Shawn Phillips- Instrumental Only

THE Instrumental a great many people have been hunting down for a number of years. It is a hybrid of the begining and end parts and not entire.. This is from Shawn Phillips giving the correct story. I have asked him if he wants me to remove his music as i didn't ask his permission to use it. I am awaiting his reply.

Just so you all know, Shortfits is my nickname for YouTube. thanks for your comments, but I\'d like to set you straight if I may. Jonathan Weston had nothing to do with this piece of music. In fact, he walked into the session, as we were finishing up. I improvised it on the spot with Mick Weaver, and John Shepphard, (Producer for World In Action), paid for the session. At the time, I was not a member of the British Musicians Union, and there was some question as to how I\'d get paid, but Granada told John that night when he called them, that I might make, oh..................2 or 3 pounds at the most. So, Jonathan said we could put his name down as composer, and if anything came in, he would give it to me. Never did any of us dream that this music would run for more than 30 years. it was only 20 years later that I found out Weston had been collecting the royalties all those years. He collected over 189,000 pounds, and never gave me a penny of it. The man was, and remains a slimeball, and an Asshole with a capitol A.

I was a kid during the time of the Vietnam War, and my parents used to watch World In Action; and It scared me, as I knew that the footage that was shown was REAL. Those dead people were REALLY dead. That naked little girl running down the road with her skin hanging off in tatters had just been burnt, FOR REAL with Napalm. The show never shied away, not for cheap ratings, but because the average person needed to see what was going on, and fuck the politicians' lies. It was a great show.

@pinball1970 I grew up with programs WIA, Weekend World and the supreme Alan Whicker. Programs that made you think about what was going on in the world, even as a teenager. I try to get my two daughters to take a slight interest in current affairs but its all TOWIE, Big Brother, the x factor, Jeremy Kyle and sixteen and pregnant. They're just not arsed. They will both be able to vote at the next election, i do despair. But that's the way the ruling class wants it.
