I strongly agree with looker68's comment. Was this not a "Guam Liberation" celebration? So why performances from other islands? Guam is NOT part of the Polynesian chain of islands. We guamanians do have our own culture, not necessary to adapt from other islands. STAND UP GUAM!! We are our own people!

Omg! See what I mean? We did the Chamoru Chant at Guam Liberation... little did we know it would stir up so much CONTROVERSY! We are being criticized for being too much like Hawaiians! It's so funny, since we were taught that by Taotao Tano... straight from GUAM! We do dances from ALL islands... Guam, Tokelau, Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa ...I could go on! Yes, very well put Lani... a celebration of culture! Why is that so hard to comprehend?! Anyway, great job PHE! Much love and respect!

whats up with the Hawaiian dancing at a Guam celebration? tired of using hawaiian culture to promote Guam. nothing against the hawaiian dances, but its just not Chamorro. i guess i address this comment to those that organized this event to include hawaiian dances. Guam has its own dances. i just dont get it.
@chamoruchick~are you saying you only listen to Chamoro music? Drive a Chamoro car ? Write on Chamoro paper, sleep on a Chamoro bed ?why are you intimidated by polynesian culture? Do you feel they are NOT chamoro because they appreciate other cultures ? Polynesia is infused with many things in Guam, does that change the island, its history,or its people ?You speak as if you think Guamanians are weak, manipulated to become something else,I however KNOW that CHAMORO PRIDE is strong EVERYWHERE !

this is in response to your comment... , our organization is Pacific Heights Dance Organization...we were asked to perform for their celebration. That is why you will notice, we performed dances from Hawaii, Tonga, New Zealand, Tahiti... Its a celebration of culture...
