Visited the Narrows on July 28, 2007. This was something I knew I wanted to visit before I left Australia. Apparently, this is one of the best place in the world to ride a standing wave in a kayak. I am sitting still on shore. In the morning, during the outgoing tide, the rapids were further north, and did not create similar waves. There was a significant difference in water level between high and low tide.

  • Best looking wave ever!!

  • @Mario228l It's created by the flow of the river (in this case a tidal river). waves or holes are formed when water pours over the top of a submerged object, causing the surface water to flow back upstream toward the object.

Holes are often "sticky" and can hold objects (or people) for extended periods of time. This is generally when the inexperienced die in white water.

Skookumchuk, is a nice wave, it wouldn't hold a person for long, the "boils" downstream however would be a problem.

  • NICE
