This video has been produced for those who have an interest in hearing the sound of the various echo units used by Hank Marvin and The Shadows.
Emphasis is given particularly to the post Meazzi era that included the Binson, Echoplex and various Roland echo units, up to EFTP and finally the TVS3.

The audio was produced by Paul and the video was produced by Spike with editing help from Paul.
I think the amount of research done by Paul is to be commended as it represents a memorable collection of information that will hopefully also be a useful historical reference point.

  • This research must have taken Paul years to put together and I must say many thanks to him and to Spike for putting this video together and providing a wonderful reference for us Shadows 'nuts'.

    Regards

    Phil.

  • @PhilHaw

    Thanks Phil

    Spike

  • Thanks to everyone for their kind comments....its really appreciated!

Stuart: I'm happy you recognized the first TVS3 sold in the world which is the belonging to you :)

I guess you are part of our history too. Also other than Hank Marvin you are the only other person with 2 x TVS3's ...one for home recording and one for live playing...perfect :)

    Cheers

  • Now you know why hank uses the TVS 3 Really good presentation, Well done,

  • Hi Spike,

Paul obviously did extensive research and analysis to identify the various echo units over a fifty year period. It must have taken a long time to collate this information. It was a great meander through history that should be of interest to any Shadows fan who wants to delve beneath the surface of their changing sound over the years. It is great that we can have all those sounds in a single TVS3 unit. Thanks again and all the best to the TVS team!

    Cheers, James

  • Great and very interesting presentation!

  • Once again an excellent piece of research and presentation. Great to see the cover of some of their earliest albums, most of which I used to own but have long since disappeared.

Living in Townsville in the 70's and then for a few years in the Pilbara to the mid 80's I did not realise that they had produced all of those albums then. The regional radio stations would only play the then current pop tunes.

I saw them live in Qld in 86 or 87 and am sure that they were using the 301.

    Thanks again.

  • thanks for taking the time to post this video, it was really interesting to listen and find out info on all the echoes that were used, and The TVS3 sounds like a cracking product, just wish i had the budget for one

  • A big, big thank you to Paul an his team for this invaluable insight to the history of the sound of The Shadows. Priceless, many thanks from a lifetime fan.
