The Wigan Casino All Nighter started on September 23rd, 1973 at 2am as an experiment in the field of Northern Soul Music. It worked. Soon Wigan Casino was on the lips of every Northern Soul fan and visited by most. This is Northern Soul at its raucous best. GET IT & SHARE IT. RIGHT ON.
@tattoogeorge So i gather then that you could not dance then fella !
Maybe you should have tried eh ? It wasnt that hard to pick up and very enjoyable once you got the hang of it. And we are not gay ballet dancers either mr tattoo !
There's a picture of a girl dancing with a full cirlce skirt spinning in this video. Does anyone know what year the picture was taken because I think it was me!
I grew up in the North but was too young to experience it (Wigan), but I heard older kids rave on about it all the time. And then when I was old enough to go it was gone! So my scene was the 80s music. Everyone has their scene I suppose. But I remember kids in the local nightclubs outside of Wigan dancing in this style and it was, I must say, rather a flamboyant and almost exotic sight in a wet dreary grey-sky and supremely grimy Northern town.
@cudaneil1
