Carden Academy Huntington Beach- Spanish Lessons

Spanish for our students is provided by Conversa. Conversa uses a methodology called Teaching Proficiency Through Reading and Storytelling (TPRS). This methodology was created by Blaine Ray to develop the fluency of second language learners. It focuses on teaching the most essential structures of the language in a way that is completely comprehensible to students. Research shows that students need at least 75 to 100 comprehensible repetitions of each structure for the student to drop the extra step of translation, to truly acquire the structure. These repetitions need to be provided in a way that is fun and interesting to the students to keep them engaged. It is important to note that there is a distinct difference between learning and acquiring knowledge. Learning, such as memorization, is stored in one part of the brain and can be accessed for a short period of time. Information that is acquired is stored in the same part of the brain as the first language; it is stored long term and is processed much faster, in many cases automatically which speeds up the fluidity of conversation.(Online Video marketing and Design by www.DegagneDesign.com )
