We drove from our new villa to Figline, a small town with a train station, to journey into Florence for the very first time. Our visit was more of an exploritory nature as we walked upon the sidewalks and plazas to see things like local vendors, sidewalk chalk artists, magnificent outdoor statures (including a wonder recreation of David), as well as the Arno River and the Ponte Vecchio bridge which was constructed in the 1300's and still has three-story structures adorning its span. We resisted temptation, however, when it came to the grand cathedral which we had planned to see on our second trip. Stay tuned.
