Seven Samurai is frequently described as one of the greatest and most influential films ever made, and is one of a select few Japanese films to become widely known in the West for an extended period of time.
One of the most beloved movie epics of all time, Akira Kurosawas Seven Samurai (Shichinin no samurai) tells the story of a sixteenth-century village whose desperate inhabitants hire the eponymous warriors to protect them from invading bandits. This three-hour ride—featuring legendary actors Toshiro Mifune and Takashi Shimura—seamlessly weaves philosophy and entertainment, delicate human emotions and relentless action into a rich, evocative, and unforgettable tale of courage and hope.

  • that's funny how there's a video called "Legend of the Eight Samurai" in the suggestions/related list of this video.

  • I hear there is a remake coming in 2012. This time it's machine guns and world travel. I'm sure people would love it only for that, but will they know about the original? I hope it's as good as this masterpiece.
