OSATv TouchLine -- 128 Bent & Ceccarelli

OSATv TouchLine host, Anthony Totera, interviews Jason Bent & Paolo Ceccarelli, respectively Head Coach and GK Coach of the TFC Academy Senior Team, reflecting on their professional careers, Jason's stints with FSV Zwickau, MLS' Colorado Rapids and Canada's National Team; Paolo's time with the CSL's North York Rockets and the US Indoor Soccer League and how he came by his competitive nature growing up playing against his older brother and his friends; the need for Canadian goal-keepers to hone their skills in other aspects of the game, such as 1 v 1 and crosses, in addition to developing their shot-stopping abilities, the TFC Academy's focus on developing the "next wave" of Canadian talent, supporting and nurturing players coming through the Ontario Provincial program, such as Matt Stinson, Allando Matheson, Nicholas Lindsay, Russel Teibert and Kevin Cobby, the 13-year-old Nicholas Lindsay's two-footed soccer skills and ability to play both ways at an exceptional pace, his recovery from injury and recent come-back in part due to the TFC Academy's training regimen and the coaches' motivational challenges, the importance of practicing technical skills in every training session to develop ball-handling skills, especially on first touch, the current dearth of unorganized street football in Canadian neighbourhoods compared to other countries and the importance of including unstructured free play in training sessions to develop a passion and love for the game, and the TFC Academy's focus on developing ball skills instead of relying only on the speed and athleticism of players to win games, an approach which has served the TFC Academy Team well this season.
