When Christians Misbehave - Rude Preacher at the Giveaway

Here's the latest installment in the series "When Christians Misbehave." A man came to our giveaway area, while it was in progress, and displayed his anger that there were Atheists about. We weren't there to debate or preach, so we mostly just let him blow off steam. He said some really mean things, and then after a few minutes of that, he left, and then we left, and everything was okay again. I don't think he went through our line.

It seems he has mental health issues. The 'God Fixation' is a component of some peoples mental illness. That he is aggressive in his insistence of his beliefs and tone of voice shows he has no idea how to communicate; combine it with the rejection he received in the past & you find a person who is desperately trying to feel adequate and of worth as a person. As a Christian & I appreciate that you were mature enough to hold your tongue, he's simply an ill man, that's all, I've seen it all before.

@kayil31 - Yeah well the funny thing is, he didn't say anything I haven't heard from the pulpit. If we had tried to do a giveaway in a church, I'd expect the same treatment, but from the congregation, not some lone crazy person. Yes, he was espousing Christianity. That's all.

it may not be a bad idea to have some pepper spray on hand just in case you have to defend yourself

@TheUnmaskedMagician - He didn't come back. Our giveaways don't last more than 45 minutes, typically, so come-backs are rarely an issue.

@aajoeyjo I'm in Round Rock TX. I was a Christian in the word of faith type church for 20 years. I finally read the bible. Now I'm not. Anyway just wanted to say hey.

@Nomoremrniceguy100 God free and proud of it, I say. Religion, in my opinion has high jacked anything that would lead anyone away from "God". Morals are their biggest one, they have drilled this belief into people that you cannot be a moral person without God. I believe they have it backwards, you can't be moral with God because God is the most immoral (myth) being out there. :^)

@Strictlypointless This is one out of the MANY! reasons why I am an ex christian, now an atheist. Why do all of these "unhappy" people (atheists) need Jesus, when there lives are far more fulfilling that ANY! christian I knew? Exactly, it makes no sense.
