  • I'm gutted too! he looked healthy and strong in the last photo's, as for culling why him? Why not the other weaker males? The excuse that he would starve to death this winter is a lame one, he was still strong enough to survive. Some one offered the land owner a lot of money to shoot him just because the stag had made a name for himself. It all comes down to greed for money. If the hunter thinks he has made a name for himself by killing him, well he has a very bad name if we ever find out his ID

  • @dodgerwhisk It turns out is was not shot at all. Do a google search for "Exmoor Emperor alive". Another BBC non-story.

  • @Muppettheraver man dont even waste your time explaining our way of life to tree hugging cnuts like this !

  • The new`s make it sound so bad! ITS A FUCKING DEER, DEAL WITH IT!

  • Is everyone in the UK vegetarians or hypocrites? That stag would feed a family for months!

  • what a stupid last comment, of course his genes have been passed on!!!

  • 12 years old was on his start 2 decline? LOL At 7 yrs they r at their peak. Any deer over 7 yrs old is on decline. His genes were spread pretty good. If he WAS 12, then he did have a good set of horns for 12. I am sure he was much bigger n his younger yrs of 5 - 8 years old. I have seen much larger Stags than him. The horns decline with age after 7 - 8 years old. He hadnt been breeding 2 much because of his age & getting his butt kicked by younger healthier stags.

  • @dodgerwhisk have you ever been hunting? its in our blood to hunt and its activists and do gooders that ruin a tradition that has been around longer than anyone can remember.

  • And God said Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

  • Would not be surprised to see this as an anti-hunting "hit piece" by the media. I am a hunter I would not like to see such a trophy animal be denied his breeding rights because of some rich poof hunter wanabee. You should leave those trophies to breed and cull out the weaker/smaller ones.

  • God you people got issues, why is that on the news anyway? You always hunt stags in their prime so they make way for the younger ones. Quite normal why would BBC waste its time with that?

  • ha and last week it was a cat getting swung around
