Night Watch (Russian: Ночной дозор, Nochnoy dozor) is a 2004 Russian fantasy horror film by the Kazakhstan-born film director Timur Bekmambetov. It is loosely based on the novel The Night Watch, and is the first part of a trilogy, followed by Day Watch and ending supposedly with Twilight Watch (although the rights for it were acquired by FOX, production has not started yet).
Why would an artistically driven country such as Russia compromise its integrity like this? Producing mediocre CGI films in the style of American blockbusters is the lazy man's way of making films.
