@thezainth, it's not a state flag, it's the Confederate Flag. You shouldn't be so curt with other people. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the US has not forgotten the bloodiest War we've ever fought. I do agree with you however, that the flag is about pride.
@mrcrossforce, it's alright not to know. Some people in the US don't know either. The flag is symbolic of the south and the way of living. However, the entire purpose of the flag is to represent the South as it's own entity.

It's the Confederate Battle Flag, actually and is not recognized as a national flg of the Confdedracy. That flag is the flag appropriately known as the "Stars and Bars" and contains two horizontal red stripes and one white stripe along with 7, 9, 11 or 13 stars. The National Flag was replaced by the Battle Flag on the battlefield because it too closely resembled the US Flag. However, the National Flag remained the recognized flag of the Confederacy.
