On a ranger guided backcountry hike in Mesa Verde National Park, we encountered this very curious wild horse. Wild horses wander into the park from the Ute Mountain Ute Tribal Reservation next to the park. More info at www.michelle-hansen.com

  • WOW!..what a beautiful encounter with one of natures wild horses.

Note: horses are pack animals, it appears to be lone male horse looking for companionship. Once a young male horse hits a certain age they are kicked out of the mob by the dominate male stallion.

  • My grandfather loves horses, I bet he would love to see this.

  • BREATHTAKING!

  • That was amazing & I bet a thrill, I do agree though he seemed to know & want to communicate with you all!!! May I ask was this like a TOUR of somekind:))

    tks

  • He is from the Ute reservation. Their horses are free range. You see them loose all over Indian reservations.

  • I don't think this is a true "wild horse". because of the way he just ran up to you, no fear. A little too tame. Also...if he were truly wild, he would be with a band of some size. I think someone owned this horse, and just let him go.

  • Its so pretty

  • he is magnificent and his entrance was amazing :O) beautiful capture x thanks for sharing x

  • Wow!
