From http://www.witness.org Every year, more than 25,000 workers are enslaved by landowners in rural Brazil, mostly in the Amazon region. This video tells the story of men who set out in search of work and are taken to isolated ranches, only to find that they have been lured into debt bondage. Forced to do backbreaking work and to live in overcrowded shacks with no running water, they are treated like animals. "A bullet from my shotgun is what you have a right to here", one worker was told. With no way out, they toil in the hope of buying back their freedom.

  • If Brazil has capital punishment, it should be applied to those landowners that practice slave labor. IMHO, slavery should be a capital offense and should be punished appropriately with death.

  • @AlfredoNader

Brazil will be a lot better someday. I am just sad I might not be around to see it but maybe my kids will...

  • @Domdalom Brazil does not have capita punishment. Such a pity, really...

  • A shame that in 2010 we haven't overcome poverty, war, terrorism, or slavery.

  • Slavery has been around for thousands of years yet slavery still exists. Genocide still exists. Extreme poverty still exists. What's he waiting for?

  • fatsoela, Brazil has one of the highest rates of socio-economic inequality in the world and yet is among the 10 largest global economies. Sometimes I'm ashamed of my people.

  • Those Portugese demons will pay; Time in on God Yahweh's side. Everybody speaks of the English Slavery but seems to forget about the Spanish and Portugese who removed us from the Father/Mother Lands, in the 1500's... I rated this video a 5 but you cannot rate the destruction of a human being. thanks for posting this video, i am from north America.

  • Brazl Super

  • the people enslaving other human beings should be held accountable for their actions on earth, by their peers, by their oppressed subjects. not by some omnipotent with questionable ties to reality.

religion is like a monster telling you to turn the other cheek. it can also inspire wonderful acts of caring. but 'requires' that one give up their will and work towards a false goal. the goal should be heaven on earth. start working towards that.
