This is a true story about me and my wife, from the day we met to the day we got married. I really did grow up in what seemed like the middle of nowhere, in Nazareth PA, my best friends name was Marc, I fell in love with my wife the first time I saw her, we moved around quite a bit before we got married, we got married 2 years and 2 days from the day we met, the wedding was in a church up on a hill in Windsor Castle, PA, my wife was stunning as she walked down the aisle and I truly did marry my new best friend.

I wrote the song about a year after we got married. We moved to Orlando, FL after the wedding. It was on one of our many trips up north with our VW rabbit to transport our worldly possessions. We broke down in Elkin, NC. At that time, we were down to our last few dollars and we had no idea what we were going to do. We coasted into Tim and Pat Couches Chevron station and quickly found out that the wheel bearings had gone bad. Tim was just about to close up shop. He said he'd try to help us in the morning. We asked if he would mind if we slept in our car at the station. Tim said he didn't mind. We ended up taking a walk through Elkin. It's a beautiful little town but the streets did roll up at 6 0' clock. That's when I came up with the first line. As we walked back to our car, we noticed somebody looking around it with a flashlight. We ran back to find Pat there looking for us. She told us that she contacted her church and they had people looking all over for us. They ended up getting us a room at the Holiday Inn, repairing our car, buying us breakfast and even giving us gas money for the ride home. Every time we make the trip past Elkin we stop in to visit our angels.

  • Sat here listening to your love story, thinking about my own. My bride and I have been married for 36 years, and I wouldn't change a thing! We have our ups and downs, like everyone. Life is tough. But with God's help, and each other, we keep moving forward. Thank you.
