A crank shaft paddle does a lot more then just make it more comfortable!!! a crank shaft lines up your wrist with the center of the paddle and then gives you a better feel of the paddle and gives the paddle a more sensitive feel

Thanks !! That's the first explanation I've gotten for why the blades are feathered at 90 degrees. - great info for a newbie. I bought a couple of the Costco "Equinox" Kayaks.
