  • More than anything else in this video I think the concept of using Web 2.0 to connect with a wider, or global, audience is what intrigued and interested me the most. Reading about New Zealand in a book might be good, but talking first hand to a child your own age from New Zealand must be really special. Short of actually travelling to the country in question (in this case NZ) I can’t really think of a better way to learn about a different country or culture than this.

  • This has opened my eyes and made me really want to utilise web.2 in the classroom. I really liked how Kathy made it clear she was not a tec savvy person but with a little training she was able create a classroom that expanded beyond the school yards. I thought it was amazing how blogging made her students work social, flexible and interactive. Connecting with other countries through the blogging was also something that really inspired me as children gain insight into other cultures...Loved it.."

  • I believe this video highlights the significance&relevance of web.2 in the classroom environment. The teacher comments that technology is not necessarily easy, can be frustrating&is always changing she also appreciates&recognizes the potential it provides children. They are able to express to a wide audience&explore areas such as cultures first hand (e.g. the NZ example).A lot of this e learning seems daunting but I believe children should be taught from a young age to ensure they are tech savvy

  • As a student teacher, I feel very inspired by the fact that kathy's students see their classroom as "much bigger than the 4 walls of their classroom". These children are only 6 or 7 years old , but Kathy's integration of learning technology has allowed them to develop curiosity about global events and has inspired them to learn about other countries. in other words, they are already starting to become global citizens. For me, this is such a powerful way to use technology in the classroom!

  • I really like this video as it shows skill level and age is not a barrier for using technology. I also like how not only the school and the parents are involved in supporting the children using this technology but also the schools from other countries!

  • interesting video , it is nice to see that even young children can get there heads around using different technologies in the classroom .

  • Great video! What an inspiration. Definitely proves that skill level is not a barrier to using technology and using it successfully in the classroom.

  • I went here last year. Of coarse i am not in grade 1. lol. (gr. 7)

  • Very nice little gem of a video. Really showed that teacher attitude and not skill level is a barrier to using technology with students. I liked how three different voices were presented: teacher, parent and student. The students articulated well about how they are using blogs and wikis to write and receive feedback.

  • Thank you for sharing this video. I work in Surrey British Columbia and many teachers think that they are too busy teaching reading and writing to 'do technology'. I appreciate your candor and seeing the results with the Kids
