Popularized byPatti Page and Les Paul and Mary Ford in 1951. Les Paul and Mary were a popular husband and wife musical group in which Les Paul played the guitar and Mary sang. In 1951 alone, they sold 6 million records.
This tune was released the year my parents moved to a new house in, what was then, the "country", I remember loving the song and listening to "live" birds on early summer mornings. Then the highway construction gangs arrived. Paradise Lost.
My mother would rock me and sing this little song to me when I was a child. Eventually I learned the words and sang along with her. This brings back so many good memories. Thank you for posting this.

They were very popular in the 1950s and he was a great guitar player.
After their divorce not much was heard about them any longer.
