To this day, whenever someone says "Today is Tuesday" I always sing the rest of this in my head.

@aaronb825 No they were around, it's just that Disney didn't want the show banned in the south.

Really enjoying these old show clips to bring back childhood memories. As a 6 or 7 year old boy at the time, I had a crush on Mouseketeer Cheryl. She had the prettiest smile that melted this little boy's heart back then. I was saddened when just recently finding out about her untimely passing over two years ago from cancer. Wish I could have been to one of the Disney conventions when she, and other Mouseketeers, were autographing photos from when they were on the show. Cheryl, you are missed. :(

I'm glad i was born in the 90s, because that version was like an SNl for kids!

I had a record of this song; had no idea what it was until now :).

i remember corky and white shadow too, loved darlene in it,wish that it was on dvd or on you tube, watched mmc in the 70s as a child, and still adore it.

my favorite is the talent round-up with karen and cubby sitting on a horse singing saddle your pony here we go,down to the talent rodeo!do you have that one?

So who was the guest star?
I guess they didn't have any black people or any people of color back in
the 50's.

@aaronb825 In the 1950s, America was still segregated, and if you put this show into historical context, the Mickey Mouse Club began the same year as the Civil Rights movement. To Disney's credit, several African-Americans were made honorary Mouseketeers on Talent Round-up Day, and later, they were included in the both the 1970s and 1990s version of the Mickey Mouse Club.

Yes, Walt Disney was still alive in the 1950s, and no, this was not the first tv show to feature real people. TV sitcoms have been around since the late 1940s, although television itself is much older, dating back to the 1920s and 1930s.
