Dr. Cornel West and Tavis Smiley speak at the Kerner 40 Plus Symposium on the campus of NC A&T, addressing issues of race, white supremacy, and the presidential election.
I understand your point , but blacks will never get over slavery as long as their living conditions are still too reminiscent of that peculiar institution which was slavery and you're right by saying that we're all enslaved ,particularly those who still believe in white supremacy which is an outright lie.
change must come from those living this new paradigm the last 30 yrs. as in-touch as dr. west is, it's hard for me to accept that those from the civil rights generation "get" what it is to live as a progressive voice today without a base to voice progression. where we are living thru all the ills he knowingly writes and speaks about. he sees it but we live it. we need the stories of those living it. i got a mind i try to mine. come by my page. i try to speak from today.

I don't think Cornel West is aware that all peoples in all cultures were once slaves to someone else. I think that black people need to get over slavery. Honestly. I'm over the fact that my great-great-great...great-grandparents were once slaves to the Romans.
However, the old social discrimination regarding "seperate but equal" and the new pseudo-integration of today in certain sub-societies (e.g.: L.A.), integration by law but not integration by practice, are stil problems.
i totally agree with dr cornel west. but what are we as black people going to do about it i think its time to call all the brillant black minds together and start coming up with solutions cause only we can make that change
