Home is a Fire -- as originally performed by Death Cab for Cutie
Written by Christopher Walla & Benjamin Gibbard
Guerilla filming is alive and well! Through a friend we got wind of a FOX series filming in a beautiful warehouse of sets in downtown Los Angeles. So with our DSLRs, a DIY steady cam and BALLS OF STEEL we snuck on set, borrowed construction lights and quietly filmed this video while our FOX Network benefactor amassed a full production television series beneath the floorboards.
This is my favorite song on Codes and Keys, and stylistically it reminds me of my early band songwriting. Chromatic changes over a deep drone. On paper Gibbard's lyrics read as vivid poetry. I knew he had game but singing "Home is a Fire" was where I realized his level. Genius.
Thanks to Trevor Sands & Brian McRae for filming and feedback. Also McRae once again laying down the "rock" drums and Mike Binder arguably crafting his best mix yet!!!!
Filmed on a Canon T3i with the Canon 18-55mm & Sigma 30mm 1.4 lenses.
Enjoy,
Xiren (pronounced seer-rin)
