He is twisting history to make it seem as if Muslims were the aggressors. It was the Roman empire which ran much of Europe around the 7th century when Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) came into this world. And the Romans existed before then and even after, and it was them that attacked Muslims, just like they had been doing to the Jews and other peoples of the areas bordering the Mediterranean sea, including North Africa, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East.
