Perhaps I did misread his comments. I am overly sensitive about this song because when Eric's version came out, my elders, in their infinite wisdom, tried to ban it as glorifying drugs. Banning things probably happens more in the Deep South than anywhere else in the country. They burned Beatles records here, for Christ's sake, so you know no one was safe. It's a constant battle to preserve the good and beautiful from the powers of darkness.
