If the logic behind that flintlock comment were true, then the free speech under the 1st Amendment only applies to an ink and quill pen or newspapers; not television, radio or internet (such as you-tube comments).

At the start of the Constitution it is written, We, The People. In the second amendment it is written, THE PEOPLE have the right to bear arms. What part of THE PEOPLE don't they understand. I consider any judge that rules against the second amendment has ruled against The Constitution and THE PEOPLE. They should be charge with treason. Unless judges are allowed to defined whom are THE PEOPLE. Since White people wrote the Constitution then only whites are The People. RIGHT???? Hello NAACP!

I am always amazed to see those with degrees from Ivy League Schools, the intelligentsia, have such a hard time understanding the mere 27 words that make up the 2nd amendment. If it wasn't a serious matter, it would be funny. Imagine a large number of people with college degrees still trying to convince the multitudes that 1+1 was not really 2, but something else. My point is, you don't need to be a rocket scientist to understand those 27 words, I got it the first time I read it.

One of the first things any would-be tyrant does is restrict gun ownership to state-employees such as police, army officers, or in many cases, some hybrid of the two. Hitler, Stalin & Mau did it, along with countless others. Please don't take me the wrong way, I don't intend to compare gun-control advocates to tyrants by any means whatsoever, I simply intend to illustrate the point that the 2nd Amdt was created for the purpose of avoiding the possibility of such a scenario.

The purpose of the 2nd Amendment, as stated quite clearly by Jefferson, was first & foremost to protect citizens from their own government should it become oppressive. These are men who went to war over a rising tea tax. Given the current political climate, is it entirely unreasonable to reserve the possibility that our government get oppressive to such a degree that citizen self defense become necessary? If so, would flintlocks be effective means by which to do so?

I favor the original intent of the Framers: the right to keep and bear flintlocks.
