@asianmanph Red robes are worn by the burmese monks, and yellow and orange are worn by city monks, while brown is worn by forest monks and monks of the Dhammayut Order.

@asianmanph These color resemble a monk, Usually a Novice monk would wear Orange, yellow, saffron and a Bhikku would wear a brownish/ornage color robe. But; sometimes a Bhikku likes the color of a robe, then he can wear it if he likes. A Novice monk must wear yellow, saffron, and orange until he is 20 or 21. (Novice means young monk) Right now i am currently a Cambodian Novice Buddhist monk. If i got this wrong feel free to correct me.

@thisisspartacus It's a matter of showing respect to a symbol of the sanga (religious community) by treating the robe formally. Whether one takes pleasure in that or not is personal. It's not about giving up pleasure; it's about giving up attachment.

Cool, but I don't understand the contradiction of wearing a robe (that's been donated) so you don't have any worldly possession, then ritualizing the process and beauty of wearing a robe afterwards. In monastic Buddhism, is it okay to take pleasure in worldly beauty in a worldly possession but not okay to take pleasure in a worldly possession itself? Are they not the same thing? I must have missed something.
