This fiery speech was delievered by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto at the UN Security Council waving his hands and index finger condemning India for aggression and declaring "we will fight for a thousand years" before ripping apart some Security Council papers and storming out of the hall. After two weeks of fierce fighting, both nations faced considerable political pressure from the U.S., the U.K. and the Soviet Union and agreed to a ceasefire sponsored by the U.N. The conflict had resulted in a stalemate.

This video is an excerpt of the whole speech. And the text of whole speech can be found at http://www.bhutto.org/70Speeches/Speech-46.htm

The subtitle of this excerpt is as following :

My Country Beckons Me
Speech at the Security Council, New York,
December 15, 1971
Yesterday my eleven year old son telephoned me from Karachi and said "Do not come back with a document of surrender. We do not want to see you back in Pakistan if you do that." I will not take back a document of surrender from the Security Council. I will not be a party to the legalization of aggression.
The Security Council has failed miserably, shamefully. For four days we have been deliberating here. For four days the Security Council has procrastinated. Why? Because the object was for Dacca to fall. That was the object. It was quite clear to me from the beginning. All right, so what if Dacca falls? So what if the whole of East Pakistan falls? So what if the whole of West Pakistan falls? So what if our state is obliterated? We will build a new Pakistan. We will build a better Pakistan. We will build a greater Pakistan.
The Security Council has acted short-sightedly by acquiescing in these dilatory tactics. You have reached a point when we shall say, "Do what you like." If this point had not been reached we could have made a commit¬ment. We could have said, "All right, we are prepared to do some things." Now why should we? You want us to be silenced by guns. Why should we say that we shall agree to anything? Now you decide what you like. Your decision will not be binding on us. You can decide what you like. If you had left us a margin of hope, we might have been a party to some settlement.
I find it disgraceful to my person and to my country to remain here a moment longer than is necessary. I am not boycotting. Impose any decision, have a treaty worse than the Treaty of Versailles, legalise aggression, legalise occupation, legalise everything that has been illegal upto 15 December 1971. I will not be a party to it. We will fight; we will go back and fight. My country beckons me. Why should I waste my time here in the Security Council? I am going.

  • @DrRajReddy Please, enlighten me about what you think our textbooks say about you. PLEASE.

  • @unstopable67 did he get any thing in return after doing such a great speach as you say it is?? get realistic boss, he is actually begging for help, like nawaz sharif did during kargil. Leaders in pakistan have changed but the begging dint stop.

  • @unstopable67 did he win anything ??? he was actually begging for some more of settlement after his military lost to INDIA.

  • @pink2bluee is that propoganda that u talk about is more than what your text books have about hindus and Indians and non-muslims???

  • and zab while having done a lot of great things also cheated by splitting the number of votes in province of sindh so the majority (muhajirs) were not reflected properly in the government... it's like if the US president says california now only has half the seats it previously had because my votes are in other places oh and those places are going to get more seats because...... I say so..

    fuck this guy

  • nice speech but you see bangladesh was subject to blatant racism from the pakis... they were as Imran Khan says "treated like a colony"... if you ever visit Karachi Pakistan ask the muhajirs there how the pakis or should I say punjabis treat them? you'll find the same racism as with the bengalis... most recent example is operation cleanup by nawaz sharif in 1992 allowing the army to kill muhajirs at will and without any of trial.."legalized" ethnic cleansing

  • btw.. his own country beckons him.. lol to hang him once he gets back there.. so much for pakistan..

  • hahahahah paper faad raha hai saala!! humne pakistan ko 1971 mein phaad diya lol... aao saalo wapas.. phir se phaad denge..
