Alida Chelli - Sinnò me moro

Amore, amore, amore, amore mio
in braccio a te, me scordo ogni dolore
vojo resta co'te sinnò me moro
vojo resta co'te sinnò me moro
vojo resta co'te sinnò me moro.

Nun piagne amore, nun piagne, amore mio
nun piagne, state zitto su sto core,

  • The song is called "Otherwise I'll die"

    I found the following translation:

    Love,love, love of mine

Into your arms I forget every pain

I want to stay with you

    Otherwise I'll die

Don't cry, love, don't cry, my love

Don't cry and be still over my heart

But if this hurts you, just tell me

Just tell me what you have to say to me

  • One of my favourite songs

  • I was very shocked when I first listend this song around 1960 ( I was a teenager boy). I still love this powerful song.from Seoul, Korea.

  • So... how do u say?

    Oh! Very Russian-soundish!

  • I saw the Pietro Germi film when I was a child and the song "Si no me moro" has remained with me all my life. Does anybody know where I can buy a DVD with the original film "Un Maledetto Imbroglio" with English subtitles. Thanks for your help.

  • Look to the lyrics of the songs of Porter, Kern, Gershwin, and lyricists like Hart and Hammerstein and you'll see what real English is supposed to sound like. Their work is available to all, a reminder of when this country had class and we had talents of the caliber of Doris Day, Rosemary Clooney, and Billie Holiday, who certainly never stooped to the profanity that passes for the music of her people today, and which, sadly, is imitated by Whites and Hispanics alike.
