Although Sam Cooke's version still moves me to near tears.. I have to say that this version oozes with emotion.. and I love the fact that he played with the melody and the feel, instead of trying to cop Sam or Otis's performance too closely. Kudos !!!

@eojindc - Much, much agreed. One thing I love to search on YT is accoustic renditions of songs originally written at an upbeat tempo and/or with a more electric-based flavor, and the accoustic versions are almost always far superior. The first time I heard this track, I was utterly blown away.

This is one of my all time favorite songs. I have listed to every version I can find by everyone you can imagine, and, with all due respect to Mr. Cooke, Gavin DeGraw tears this shite up!!! It is the most played song in my iTunes. When I thought there was no way this song could wrench anymore emotion or feeling out of me, I found this video. It is the perfect accompaniment to this song.
