Good job over all, Altos are singing too roughly...and pitch and tone of the Sopranos is off just a tad bit.. flat even.. the arrangement was fantastic and the director must know his students voices very well to even attempt a piece like this one. Most wouldn't, because of the breathing...thumbs up!!

im in the choral choir so i appreciate the way things are done with this video and the posture and breathing are amazing. their control is beyond wonderful. Great Job!!! i also adore this song!

You really don't know why any conductor allows things. If this were the perfect world then we'd be bored stiff. Thank you for being who you are and happy with just that. I feel if this chorus did the best they could then that deserves a ten...

Great job of such a hard song.

They can perform just as well by standing just as the men do with their hands by their sides. Of course paying special attention to not lock the knees or have bad posture... :).
I just find the arm thing to be a bit distracting and dated. Also, wouldn't that be somewhat painful and tiring?

they sound good bu the cleveland school of the arts sound better

i still hear david so clear on this video itz crazi but iz cool

the altos and tenors need to drop their jaw, singing too rough. The last section when the sop hold the note the sop are attacking that note too hard.(suppose to be more soft and flowey )...The alto part is def the meat of the song and is the best part hands down. Sop Decent stagger at the end but a little flat, try droppin your jaw and rounding your mouth, it gives a mature sound. And where in the hell is the bass sec?

I agree, it's the definitive version.

Very beautiful :)
My favorite rendition of this song was from the movie Green Pastures (1936) as performed by the famous Hal Johnson Choir. They sang from their hearts - so many must have had hard lives - but you could hear the spirit in their voices. I wish that their recordings were available.
I love this song, but the choir could have had better phrasing.

Thanks for the feed back, this was the first time we performed this some in competition. I did not have all I needed, but you are right, it does need a bit of work. Thanks for the comment.
