My ophthalmologist sometimes frustrates me. One time after he applied the dilating drops on my eyes for the further exam, he did not give me the tissues right away. I did not want to continue to lean back, because the light in the office is too strong (I don't want to hurt my eyeballs). But then when I resumed my original head position, the drops started to drip down. My stupid ophthalmologist finally gave me the tissues AFTER the dripping happend. Great, with all the medicine on my face!

@715Bates So what? OD's still can't perform the kinds of surgeries that ophthalmologists can.

He doesn’t tell you that Optometrist can also “through a dilated eye exam can diagnose not just eye diseases, but also discover other disorders like diabetes…”. Optometrist can also participate in a one to two year residency program to get specialized education and experience in: Ocular disease, Vision Therapy, Refractive and Ocular Surgery, etc. and or also participate in a fellowship program. Finally optometrist can also with their OD get a Masters and/or a PhD in Vision Science.
