San Francisco Police in action on 13-Jul-2011

I was walking in San Francisco with a friend when I saw a cop car driving down the wrong side of the road at crazy speed and then I suddenly heard a voice shouting "Stop The Car, Stop The Car" repeatedly. I turn around and see another cop pointing a gun at a van and shouting at the driver what to do.

Just before I started shooting the video, the driver of the van had dropped a gun out of the window and raised his empty hands outside the window. We (I and others, in and outside of the video, were in direct line of fire if the cop decide to shoot) - I was behind a huge pillar though for somewhat presumed safety! I had to stop shooting the video as the cops instructed everyone to get out of the line of fire in case they get involved in an exchange of shells.

Just after the end of this video, a cop was pointing a machine gun towards the guy who had come out of the van and at least 5 other cops with machine guns, stun guns and pistols in their hands searched the van upside down - not sure what, or who, they were looking for but something was surely on their mind!

A good adrenaline rush, over all :)

It all ended peacefully. They didn't find anything/anyone else hiding in the van as far as I could tell and took the suspects into custody.

Police don't carry machine guns, sorry. You probably mean an AR15 semi-automatic rifle (they have 3 round bursts), but they are not fully automatic.

A cop's job is dangerous and they take a lot of precaution so they stay safe. An armed suspect will bring lots of officers to the scene because they don't know if he's on drugs, psychotic, or just plain evil. What happened after the video ends?
