  • can't u just edit the name and do .iso and it asks to change the extension? :/...

  • @david1991rules4life Thanks for the previous comment! Appreciated. To answer your question, for some reason the iso doesn't work properly on other platforms when you just change the extension.

  • got a question.

under what circumstance would a '.dmg' or a '.iso' be used?

i'm quite familiar with the formats_ .jpg png tiff targa pdf etc etc

i've googled/ wikipedia only to view martian (not good at deciphering martian :-(

    cheers!

  • You can just drop the .dmg into the terminal window to insert its full path and terminal will do the right thing. No need to much around with all the quotes and whatnot.

  • You cna just drag the .dmg into the terminal window to get the full path to it and terinal will do the right thing - no need to muck around with all that path stuff. BTW, how do you get the spaces in the Dock?

  • Hi mate thanks for the tutorial, clever stuff. I was wondering if I had a game, for example age of empires for mac, and its a disk image (.dmg), when i try to open it, it says insert Age of empires dvd. Can I burn the .dmg to a dvd or would I have to convert to .iso? Also how would I burn this so its bootable off the dvd? Rather than just burning it and it opening up with a .dmg file in it, repeating the loop of enter dvd!!

  • @scbonduk Why would I lie to a complete stranger I don't care about?! The commands in Terminal make much more sense and are fairly simple the occasional time you need to use them. As for Windows, especially on XP and all those before that, they're more complex and used heavily. Maybe you're just a light user that sticks to using a web browser?! Maybe you're just bitter because, being Brazilian, you cannot afford a Mac so you go on Mac specific YouTube videos to slate them and their users?!

  • @scbonduk

that's a lie and you know it. when does anyone ever have to use the windows command prompt except for a few particular rare tasks. I never had to type highly cryptic commands to do basic tasks such as convert a file from one format to another in Windows.

  • @AlexBrasil123123 I usually use terminal less on Macs than I use Command Prompt on Windows...and I have two Macs and one PC.

  • thanks

  • Does this work going from an external hard drive to another external hard drive?

  • how do you actually watch/use what your mounted

  • and, ladies and gentleman, this is why linux and unix OSes suck huge dinosaur balls and are a joke. what hell happened to: choose source file, choose file destination, save as, click convert, DONE!!

nooooo, that would be wayy to convenient, so let's make it as complicated and retarded as possible on purpose so that we can look smart when we type in these commands and make others feel stupid.
