While Archie,Mike and Gloria are next door preparing a surprise birthday party for Edith,this man comes to the Bunker door and identifies himself as a police detective looking for a rapist.When Edith lets him in,he turns out to be the gun man rapist himself.

The loud cheering you hear when Edith makes her escape,is a standing ovation given to her by the studio audience.

Apparently actor David Dukes,who portrayed the rapist,received death threats from fans of the series,after this episode was aired.

You know what gets my goat? It's this perception in my country that it's usually the woman's fault if she gets raped. That makes me really angry. Sometimes they even blame the victim even when it's only a little girl. "She's a flirt," people say or "It's not his fault. He's a man." That makes me really mad.
