  • here is proof that prop 8 is entirely based on religious views: try to tell me in one paragraph why gay marriage should be outlawed. Dont bring up the bible or religion or god.also i am almost 100% sure that no atheist or agnostic whould ever vote yes on 8.

  • ok how about I'm not christian, nor belive in any god or religion of any kind? so why should someone like me be goverened by christian views?

  • as to your last statement, why are plenty of children adopted and raised properly by gay couples? And why have all studies shown that gays are equally capable of raising a child? As to your point about a mother and father, what about barren women? Or straight couples that just don't have children? I know a married couple, husband and wife, who married just to show their devotion. Neither one wants to have children. So why can't gays who want to adopt get married?

  • I never dreamed of the day when my church would tell me discrimination is a christian principle. Prop 8 goes against key principles of democracy. For me, No on 8 is less about whether gay marriage is right or wrong, but more about the crime it is to bring religion into government. We are sending ourselves down a slippery slope.

  • If you are quoting the Bible... Leviticus 18:22... 2 Timothy 3:1-3 (see verse 3)

The scripture you quote means there will be no new marriages in the resurrection... meaning I won't be choosing to marry someone after I die and am resurrected. That in no way justifies gay marriage or homosexual behavior.

  • Matthew 22:30. Long as the bible says that, you have no right to claim to be "defending" marriage.

  • Even if you take the standard secular view, even one based on creation strictly from biological evolution, the fact is that gender is present and relevant throughout even THAT view. What is disturbing is the anti-prop8 crowd tries and present gender as irrelevant, or tries to paint us as 'backwards' for even hinting that there could be inherent strength to a woman and a man as mother and father. Children are most likely to have good circumstances if they have access to both a mother and a father
