what's the story behind this? why were they playing at such a small venue?

Story is: After flying from Ireland to see U2 in Giants Stadium I ended up in this pub in Manhatten which happens to be owned by Snow Patrol who happened to also have played in New York that same evening. Gary Lightbody and Nathan Connolly did an inpromptu acoustic gig downstairs that i stumbled upon after the barman upstairs mentioned that 'some band' were gonna play! They did 5 or so tunes in front of no more than 20 people.Excellent stuff eventhough I'd been on the go for 25 hours!!
