Today's the day for the hearing over whether a gay judge is allowed to hear a case about marriage. It's also the anniversary of the ruling that ended the ban on interracial marriage. A Catholic adoption agency in Illinois is suing for the right to stop foster kids from going to adoptive LGBT parents. And you can't get married in Wyoming, but you can get divorced.

  • The overturn of Prop 8 was NOT thrown out-- in other words, Prop 8 is still unconstitutional. The new judge ruled that just because a judge is gay doesn't mean he must disqualify himself from ruling on gay marriage issues. Yay.

  • nob gobler

  • The purpose of the judicial branch is to make sure laws passed don’t violate the constitution.

The judicial branch is also charged with the managing the civil courts.

  • I'm no fan of Prop 8, nor am I a legal expert. Judges can decide that constitutional amendments are unconstitutional? I find that disturbing in a legal sense, regardless of the amendment under review. Could someone with legal expertise comment on this jurisdictional claim?

  • once again the will of the people will be sacraficed on the alter of political correctness

  • thank you for what you do :)
