Brian K. Simpkins, M.S., is the Associate Director of Research and Evaluation of the Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium (RDPC). Brian holds both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Marshall University and Eastern Kentucky University, respectively. Brian has over six years of experience working with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and first responders on national, federal projects and programs, which include the National Asset Database (NADB), a national training database, First Responder Technologies (R-Tech) Program, National Incident Management System Support Center (NIMS SC) Program, and System Assessment and Validation for Emergency Responders (SAVER) Program. Brian has also completed research on a variety of public safety topics such as critical infrastructure, crime mapping, drug abuse, and first responder technologies. Brian's professional and personal memberships include the American Society of Criminology, National Criminal Justice Association, and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. Brian is also a part-time faculty member within the Safety, Security, and Emergency Management Department at Eastern Kentucky University.
