Melasma is a dark skin discoloration found predominantly on sun-exposed areas of the face and chest. It's a very common skin disorder that can be treated with the advanced lasers at American Medical Aesthetics. The group of people most affected by this skin disorder is young women with darker skin tones. It is also extremely common in pregnant women and women who are taking contraceptive pills or hormone replacement therapy. The risk is also higher for people who have been over-exposed to sunlight, and those who don't wear proper sun block. Melasma first appears like sun spots or sun damaged skin, and later develops into a more extensive "mask-like" coverage of the skin. Melasma can be described as a brown toned discoloration found most commonly on the cheeks, nose, lips and forehead. See below to view photos of Melasma laser treatments.

  • This video is such a tease!!! TOTALLY UNINFORMATIVE! What is the name of the laser? (not mentioned in video) What kind of creme are best to prevent further melanin production? ( also not mentioned in the video)

  • I wish I had the money to do this laser surgery. Too bad for me+_+

  • What kind of long-term affect does this laser have on the skin? Does it remove any collagen, elasticity, or any other good cells that the skin needs? Will my skin look as supple or better if I do this? And how much does this cost? I have sun spots, and did notice them at the end of my pregnancy.
