Having watched to entirety nearly 500 different animes, I have to say that this is undoubtedly THE BEST anime opening sequence EVER. There is an art to portraying a series and its roots in the 1 minute and 30 second sequence prior to the first scene - in this opening you get all of the emotions of the series without ever being cheated by the melody. Evangelion is certainly not the best anime ever, but its opening sequence is inarguably the most perfectly portrayed.

I can't say is the best anime ever, I accept there are mistakes in the anime and well, Is really really good, I watch it 26 times and countin, there's no anime who can compare with but, is not the best anime evere and forever... obviously I love Evangelion and I'm not saying is not good xD

@TheUniquePizza35 I understand what you're saying, but there are a plethora of other series which rim on perfection. For starters, some of the elements in Shinji's psychological battle with the Evas are disputably cliche, which is particularly true for the many of my friends who label him a wimp and write him off 3 or 4 episodes into the series. If the main protagonist cannot relate to an average, teenage male's psyche, it can't be a perfect series at all.

@requiemsama I totally agree with your opinion on the op, still I can't thumbs up because I seriously think that Evangelion IS the best anime ever. I have the impression the prevalent opinion is that Evangelion is a very good series but nothing more than that. Am I the only one thinking that Eva is the most incredible anime ever made and that no other anime series can even come close to its perfection?
