@williamhad I've considered the same thing, and I would if it wasn't for my wife and son. But she would NEVER give up her present life.

interesting they DO have some farm technology....that way they will get good results. but they do have shunning, no breaking the rules.

@williamhad write your own lifestyle, no reason to join any religious group, there are many.....a simple life is for anyone, anywhere, nothing to join.

I wonder how long the cast of Jersey Shore will last living Amish.
-
you cant stop earth from evolving so in like 100 years amish would be like living in the great depression in the 30s, so amish cant be the amish today in the future

@chechnya, as apposed to what? The 9-5 debt slave lifestyle?
-
I respect the Amish way of life and its hard not to conform to technology and recent western culture. I wonder if they will accept a Black Girl!!! Lol

you can critizise them all you want but I bet they didnt have a housing bubble because they are not obsessed with material objects and worried about outdoing their neighbours
I've honestly considered becoming Amish. I'm sick of politics, a shitty economy, the media, and overall lack of virtue in our society.
