  • What I didn't realize until Renzo himself said it after a screening was that many of the things he said are direct quotes from NGO policy, World Bank policy and what the Missionaries used to say.

I believe he also meant that by not showing something that is an exception (things being done and improvements helping people) but instead showing what is usually the case (people suffering and things not changing) he showed a more objective and true representation of the situation.

  • what bloody right does he have to tell those people to ENJOY? the poverty?

it's their own bloody business. I find the whole film just an attempt at trying to shock the audience by making some obscure statement. The question I have is. what on earth did the director try to achieve with making this film??? Certainly not to raise awareness of the proverty there of increase the willingness to help.

If anything, it seems rather like the opposite.

  • Seams like a very intersting film.. Is this movie for sale anywhere or viewable online? heard a lot about it, but cannot find it..

  • GE-WEL-DIG

  • I love the irony and sarcasm that renzo portrays in the film... or as renzo tries to say in the end:

it may just be pure vanity on his part.

  • One hell of a party. B-)

  • i saw the film in debali in Amsterdam i find it a very brave and inspiring film. Thank you Renzo

  • (cont)my question was how can we ensure that the actions we take transcend the structure(s) and power relations(renzo's verbiage) responsible for this hegemony without being complicit with them. if there is no answer to this then, just as his message to them is to enjoy poverty(find what solace they are able to in day-to-day life without expectation of liberation from their condition), we in the west/first-world/developed-countries should simply "enjoy decadence/affluence" for the same reasons.
